We are part of the HEBERGER Group, a construction company with strong partners that operate across the globe. Reliability, high quality work, modern management and innovative as well as sustainable actions are key to HEBERGER’s motif. Every division of the HEBERGER Group benefits from its high standards and diverse range of services.
1838
Master glazier Christian Markstahler founds a glazier’s workshop in Karlsruhe and becomes court glazier of the Grand Duke of Baden. Therefore, his workshop as well as his client base grow rapidly in a short period of time.
1882
Due to a fire, the greater part of the glazier’s workshop is destroyed. However, a new beginning is possible thanks to the joining of Jakob Barth – hence the name Markstahler + Barth.
1902
After the retirement of longtime part owner Christian Markstahler, Jakob Barth continues the firm under the joint name. A little later he acquires furniture manufacturing as an additional branch of production.
1956
After the passing of manager Hermann Barth, Jakob Barth’s son, his nephew Werner Stober takes over the firm. Under his command the company evolves into one of the leading ones in the shopfitting and interior finishing sector in Germany. The era is characterized by prestigious assignments like the furnishing of the Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Court of Justice of Germany.
1985
After more than 140 years of family property, Werner Stober sells the company to the Heberger Group for reasons of age.
1987
Shortly afterwards, Markstahler + Barth’s home base is relocated from the city center of Karlsruhe to Karlsruhe-Neureut which the company calls home since.
2000-today
Markstahler + Barth is growing. A new administration building with showroom and a workshop for the final assemblies are being built. Moreover, the existing areas like the paint shop, logistics center and machine shop are being enhanced – everything with the aim to digitalize the production process.
